And so we turn to fairytales. I don’t mean the softened modern children’s story versions, but the hard-core, often brutal originals. They usually don’t have any moral: they’re not fables. They are more sophisticated versions of campfire ghost stories.

Bread and Circuses

The conclusion that the United States is in its bread-and-circuses phase is just about impossible to escape, and our response to it proves the point.

Headed to Hell, But Entertained

Here we are again. Each time it is worse than the time before. We’re speeding toward the point when, come November, we will have a choice between two men whom we know are unqualified to be president of the United States. The rule still exists; it’s the reporters who disappeared, replaced by demographically selected persons hired to preen before television cameras or write stories intended to maintain the woke *bona fides* of themselves and their publications.

Neither!

By Dennis E. Powell | Aug 16, 2023 at 11:36 PM

This will be short because everything it says is so obvious. Do you follow the news? The allegedly shoo-in candidates for their respective parties’ presidential nomination have less principle and morals than a mosquito.

Climbing up the hill in 80-degree heat and impressive humidity today, I couldn’t help but think how today felt like this time 49 years ago.
